GREASE – A Smash Hit

Over the past year a group of students from NSHS under the guidance of  Drama Teacher, Clyde Goodenough have been working hard to put on several performances of the Musical GREASE.  After the last performance on Friday the students will have performed to over 560 paying guests.  Connor Earnshaw and Shelley Quartermaine have lead Roles as Danny and Sandi. Both have put in strong performances as they have sung and danced their way around the stage. They have been supported by a very talented cast in Bon Lucev as Kenickie and Emily Ballantyne and Nova Garnier sharing the role of Rizzo, the remaining T Birds: Rhett Cheney, Chris Kain, Kyle Haydock and Damion Johnson, The Pink Ladies: Tahlia Milentis, Rebecca Harris and Sophie Trefort, Tom Haythornthwaite as Vince Fontane, Caleb Pascoe as Johhny Casino, Sam Metzke as Paddy Simcox, Glen Pugh as Eugene , Jacquie Ozanne as Cha Cha, Amy Coetzer as Miss Lynch and Ms Kerrigan as the Fairy God Mother.  No show would be a show without the hardwork back stage and Sorcha Armstrong-Hetzel was a wonderful stage manager supported by Britt Newitt and Aidan Davey, Astine van Wyk, hair and Jasmine Douglas, makeup, Zac Baker on lights and Chris Haydock the Sound. NSHS wanted to showcase our new Performing Arts Centre with a production and Mr Goodenough and his cast of GREASE certainly have done this in style for us. Well Done Guys.  Grease 1 Grease 2 Grease 4 Grease 7 Grease 9

Taylor Warner Wins HGT “Taste of the Future” Schools Cooking Competition

The following is an excerp taken from the HGT websiteTayla with Chefs

“The final cook-off of the “HGT Taste of the Future” Schools Cooking Competition – open to Year 11 & 12 Students in WA Schools was held on 18th September 2014 at Belmont City College. The competition assisted in raising awareness and promoting chef apprenticeships to secondary school students in responding to labour and skills shortages in the hospitality and tourism industry.
The competition gave students the opportunity to showcase their culinary skills and passion for cooking. Judges for the competition Don Hancey – WA Food Ambassador, Stephen Clarke – Clarke’s of North Beach were impressed by the methodology and quality of food the students produced. Don Hancey said “the students demonstrated their ability to not only produce amazing food but brought passion and fun into the kitchen!”

The winner of the competition is Taylor Warner, student at Narrogin Senior High School. Taylor enjoys interpreting classic dishes for the modern day, and loves experimenting and combining flavours.”
The prize for the winner is an apprentice scholarship valued at $3000 worth of Training College fees. Additional cash prizes were also awarded to the winner and other place getters.

Congratulations Taylor!
